Can I surf without lessons?

In theory, yes you can surf without lessons, but to surf well we highly recommend taking lessons. Not only do we teach you the basics, but we cover practical safety lessons on things like rip currents, surfing etiquette, ocean rescue and wave formations.

What type of surf/SUP lessons do you offer?

When booking lessons with us, you can choose from either group lessons, private 1-to-1 lessons and private groups. Our group lessons run for 2 hours and are kept to a maximum of 8 pupils per coach. Private 1-to-1 lessons run for 1 hour, followed by 1 hour of free hire to practice what you’ve learnt. Private group lessons are priced based on the group size and run for 1 hour. For children we offer Kids Club which runs during Easter holidays, May half-term and summer holidays.

Will I need to hire equipment for my surf lesson?

All of our lessons include the use of equipment, coaching, hot showers and changing rooms, and when booking in to our group lessons, we offer you 10% discount in our shops afterwards.

How many surf/SUP lessons do you recommend?

Everybody learns at an entirely different rate, and you might find you pick up the skills to confidently take to the water quite quickly, but we do recommend at least 1-2 lessons for adults and 3-4 for children.

What else do you cover in Kids Club surf lessons?

Kids Club is different every week, and although the main focus is surfing, there will also be a mix of paddle-boarding, kayaking, bodyboarding, safety training by the RNLI lifeguards and a ride of the giant 8-man SUP.

How much do Kids Club surf lessons cost?

Our Kids Club runs on a pay-as-you-go basis at £20 per session.

Will my child come away from their surf lesson with a qualification?

Where is the best location to surf in Bournemouth?

Although there are many great spots to surf in Bournemouth, we highly recommend Boscombe beach, exactly where we are located! The beach is an RNLI lifeguarded beach, and the waves are perfect for lessons.

Can I leave my child unattended at their surf lesson?

Our Kids Club is open to children aged 8 to 16, and under 10’s will need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Does your surf school have shower facilities?

As part of your lesson we can offer changing rooms and hot showers. Trust us, it makes a difference!

Who teaches your surf/sup lessons?

Sessions are run by our fully DBS checked and qualified coaches, accredited by the International Surfing Association and Surf Lifesaving GB with a ratio of no more than 8 students per coach.

How do I keep safe with Covid19?

To conform with Government guidelines we have put in a series of measures to ensure physical contact between staff and customers eliminated and any hired equipment goes through a more meticulous cleaning phase.
